Change – A Sunday Favorite

writeroval-1-1 Chari over at Happy to Design had the best idea when she decided to start Sunday Favorites, giving us a chance to repost some of our favorite blogs. I’m using it as a chance to post some of my favorites from before I “knew” most of you. When you’re through here, be sure to head over to Happy to Design and check out some other posts you may have missed.

This week I am also doing a follow up to the original post.

Here’s the Original Post

LBeau doesn't do well with change, so I was surprised yesterday as he was leaving for work to see him wearing the leather jacket that he bought probably two years ago. In fact, I can recall seeing him wear that jacket on only one other occasion.

He has been known to order pants from L.L. Bean, Jos. A. Bank or Brooks Brothers and let them sit in the closet in the box for over a year before getting them hemmed. Keep in mind that the style is no different from the pants he has been wearing for the last 20 years or so. It's just that they're new, and that represents change.

The boys and I have also observed him wearing stuff around the house with the tag still on it. I guess he's just waiting for the right moment to go public.

So now that the leather jacket is in the rotation, maybe this summer he'll break in his new sandals from Johnston and Murphy. By then they'll be a year old.

Now for the Follow Up

The above was originally posted last November, and I can now report that the sandals have still not been taken out of the box in spite of the fact that we spent three whole days at the beach last week. In fact, he didn’t even take them with him.

242496_161_41 On top of that, last week a package arrived from L. L. Bean, and LBeau comes out of the bedroom that night wearing these. See those zippers halfway down the legs? You can actually zip the legs right off and convert them to shorts. This is definitely not the style pants he’s been wearing for the last 20 years.

“What do you think?” he asked.

“More importantly, what do you think?” I replied. “Do you think you’ll ever wear them? Do you actually think you’ll put them on one morning and then suddenly decide you’d rather be wearing shorts?”

Fortunately he got the answer right this time, and these will be going back to L. L. Bean. It’s too late, however, to return the sandals.

That is so funny! Why do they do that? I'll bring home clothing for my husband, ask him if he likes it, does it fit, etc? He always says yes. Then invariably he will later decide he doesn't like it but only after the return policy has expired.
ugh!
Thanks for coming by to visit me.

Kathy, this is just sooo funny, but then, maybe all men are funny about clothing. I think they need somebody else to break it in for them before they'll wear it. laurie

So funny! My husband does the exact same thing. He got some new shirts for Christmas that I found still in the box in the top of his closet. I guess it must be in the genes!LOL

This is just hilarious. My DH is sort of the same. I have to wash everything before he will wear it, sometime twice. It takes the new out he says. lol Men are funny. Hugs, Marty

Great story...creepy follow up...when I was little I was playing hide and seek over at a friend's house. (Her dad was a bit "odd" and always wore the same outfit: khaki shorts or pants and a white tee shirt.) I decided to hide in her parents' closet and when I looked up there was a row of what seemed like 50 pair of khaki shorts/pants and the top row of white tee shirts. Eeeeew, that was just freaky!

Hi Kathy...

I'm so glad that you decided to join in with the fun of "Sunday Favorites!

My friend, it's so true about "Men being from Mars"...hehe!!! I know that my honey definitely proved this to be true in regards to his clothes!!! It's always just a pair of 501 Levis...although I'm really not complaining...he looks pretty darn goog in them..wink!!! He's not very adventurous when it comes to new types of clothes!!!

Hmmm...so what do you do with your honey's sandals...they sure are nice! Loved your choice of posts to share with all of us once again!!! Oh yes, thank you so much for your sweet comments on my red dining room!

Have a super Sunday, my friend!
Warmest wishes,
Chari

My BB (big burly) guy will buy a jacket, green. Then he will buy another jacket, green. Then there will appear another green jacket.
He will buy a gray sweater, then a different gray sweater. Are you seeing a pattern here.
Don't even ask about the running shoes.

Hi Kathy,
Too funny! Now if your DH had liked hiking, those pants would have been perfect! I occasionally go on hikes with friends who are die hard hikers and they love to wear pants like those. They start out in pants mode and as the temps warm up, they convert them to shorts...good for biking, too.
:-) Thank goodness I got 1 more follower...that evil number is gone! It was really bugging me!LOL :-)

Lol! I think that the idea for these pants is great but... I had a pair and it was TERRIBLY difficult to rezip the legs back on! Back to LL was a good choice!

Oh, I can tell you WHEN he would want them - - - because my hubby owns and WEARS numerous pairs of these. They are for FISHING trips. You know, those "gorilla warfare" style fishing trips where they start out in the cold of the morning and stay through the heat of the day into the cold of the night?!? Hubby wears his "zippy pants" so he can climatize to the weather!!!

That's funny! My hubby doesn't like to shop until his clothes are practically falling off so it's a nice surprise for me when I get him something and he actually likes it! ;-)

This is SO funny! Change is hard for some....it is difficult! My husband tends to stick with his usual tried and true as well! Ya' gotta love'em!
