Medallion Makeover - Met Monday

When we built our house almost eight years ago, I knew that I didn't want a plain white ceiling medallion in the two story foyer. I had seen a beautiful faux finished medallion at a decorator show house in Fayetteville, Arkansas, a few months earlier and was determined to create something similar.

I was surprised that I was actually able to find the very medallion that I had admired at Achitectural Depot. So I ordered it along with some additional molding for the tray ceiling and gave a photo of the medallion I wanted to copy to my painter.

Like magic, she turned this...

Into this...

Here's a picture that shows the over effect of the medallion, light fixture and tray ceiling. Although you can now buy medallions that are already faux finished, it's so much more fun to make you own creation to go with the rest of your decor.

Your medallion came out great. The dark trim around the tray ceiling is a nice touch -- it complements the medallion nicely :-)

Wow that looks great! It is amazing how much a medallion/ceiling beams and other treatments can add to a room! The medallions are so easy to add too!
