Bottoms Up!!

The sale of Cycles Gladiator wine in Alabama has been forbidden by the ABC Board all because the wine's label features a nude nymph. According to the board attorney, the label violates Alabama rules against displaying "a person in an immoral or sensuous manner."

poster1 The wine label is copied from an 1895 French poster advertising Cycles Gladiator bicycles. Originals of the poster are selling for as much as $50,000.

Not to be outdone, Hahn Family Wines is capitalizing on the goings on in Alabama and developing an entire advertising campaign based on "Banned in Bama." According to a Hahn spokesman, hits on their website have increased tenfold, and people from all over the country are calling to find out where they can buy Cycles Gladiator wine.

Meanwhile back in Bama, I guess folks with the ABC Board have never left their hidey hole in Montgomery and traveled north to Birmingham. Otherwise, they would surely have had something to say about the statue of Vulcan, which sits atop Red Mountain and has been "mooning" neighboring Homewood since the 1930's.

Every state has their own ridiculous laws, our in in Arkansas are the "dry counties" that often are the wettest counties! Oh, Mama Z's is a little place that sets across the road from Mary Maestri's. Not near as famous but related, Pianalto's and Maestri's are founding families of Tontitown.

You are SOOOOOOO funny.

I've never even HEARD of Cycles Gladiator wine - - - until now - - - and it's all thanks to the nudity and Alabama's banning thereof.

Whether you knew it or not, you went WITH ME ON VACATION. I looked EVERYPLACE for some Badger Flip Flops with a badger imprint on the bottom - - - to no avail. I'm so stinkin' jealous of your Hogs!!! Hehehehehehe

I just returned from the Liquor Store in Maumelle, AR because my county is one of those DRY counties in AR..they had a lovely display of
Cycles Gladiator, so I bought a bottle, just to have something that was Banned in Bama. It's really pretty and I plan to soak it off after consumption by your brother.
It is very reasonable..from $9-$12.
Bottoms up! Susie
