Weighing in at a dainty 5 pounds 12 ounces, Lucy Claire arrived February 18, 2010, at 1:40 p.m. She's our third grandchild and second granddaughter, which means the Pink Team has officially caught up with the Blue Team.
When I left Birmingham on Wednesday heading for Little Rock, I worried that I wouldn't get there before Lucy's arrival. No sweat! Miss Lucy was determined to take her own sweet time. I got to the hospital at about 9:30 Wednesday night, and she didn't make her appearance until Thursday afternoon!
To top it all off, Grandmother Marie and I got to be in the delivery room. It was awesome! All I can say is that childbirth is definitely a miracle.
Happy Pink Saturday. Be sure to visit Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for more links to Pink Saturday posts.

Fabulous! The best Pink Saturday post ever (although thoughts of the delivery room should make it a Red Saturday... you're braver than me).

I'm back! Just couldn't get enough of Lucy...LOL (Though she is pretty darn stinkin' cute!!!)
Anyway, to answer your question: I love my Canon. It is not the top of the line by any means (I asked Chris not to spend "too much" given that I no longer work outside of the home!) and I needed something to learn on!
Since I have never had an SLR (even film) it has required a bit of reading/training. Right now, I'm still in automatic mode...using the presets. I told myself I'd give myself a year to basically learn how to become a better photographer using the built-ins before trying to master manual settings; changing out lenses, etc.
The EOS rebel is the base model. My girlfriend has the 50D...she looked at it one weekend and said they were virtually the same...her's might have a few more bells and whistles, but she says she hardly uses them. She thought I got a good camera for the money. The only thing I discovered (via reading reviews about the EOS) was that it is louder than the other models. I never would have noticed such a thing, but now that I know it...I'm always self-conscious of that shutter sound during quiet moments....weddings, graduation, etc. So the next level up might be worth the investments, not to mention it sounds like you've got a lot of prior camera experience even w/o an SLR.
Thanks so much for dropping by my blog and leaving your sweet comments. Her valentines were HUGE (in size) compared to her classmates, but oh so special!
Blessings,
Val
